SHB Hire Ltd and Truckman continue relationship

SHB is delighted to announce the renewal of the continued partnership with hardtop and accessory manufacturer Truckman. The relationship between the two British companies has developed over several years with Truckman providing quality hardtops and accessories for a range of vehicles.

In 2016 alone, the company provided SHB’s ever growing fleet with 270 new hardtops, allowing customers a more varied and high-quality level of business, capable of easily handling tough environments.

Most recently, the West Midlands’ based company delivered a collection of stylish and secure hardtops and bedliners to a fleet of more than 100 Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max and VW Amarok vehicles. The hardtops ensure SHB customers of optimum safety as they are the only models in the UK to be compatible with the Hilux Active ladder gantry/rear window guard, whilst also improving the overall functionality.

Truckman’s Chairman Mike Wheeler said: “We are very proud of our longstanding relationship with SHB, which continues to flourish. In the last 12 months alone we have delivered a huge number of hardtops and accessories for its fleet of pick-up trucks, which add to the security and storage capabilities of the vehicles.

“It is also testament to the investments we have made at Truckman in our manufacturing and stockholding capabilities to ensure we can meet the volume and production quality requirements of a significant customer such as SHB.”

The ability to provide a service of such volume is a necessity as SHB hold ownership of having the largest 4x4 fleet in Europe.

Procurement manager Rick Williams was also quick to praise the extended affiliation, “It is great news to have Truckman on board for the future. We have had nothing but a positive working relationship with them that has benefited both companies as well as our customers.”

Truckman’s Chairman, Mike Wheeler added, “It’s been a pleasure to work in partnership with SHB. Our commercial hardtops are popular with large fleets such as SHB and we believe that is down to the robust and stylish British build and design, and being able to offer a bespoke solution to each customer. ”

Enterprise turn to Truckman for major fleet project

Truckman has secured a significant project from national vehicle hire specialists Enterprise to supply almost 200 hardtops for its fleet of pick-up trucks.

The Dudley-based manufacturer and distributor of hardtops and 4x4 accessories will manufacture and fit its Truckman RS hardtops for a fleet of Toyota Hilux Double Cab Mitsubishi L200 Double Cab pick-ups.

This latest project follows on from an agreement with Enterprise to supply over 55 Truckman RS hardtops for a fleet of Ford Ranger pick-ups, which was completed earlier this year.

The hardtop-fitted Hilux and L200s will be part of Enterprise’s Flex-E-Rent service, which operates the widest range of commercial vehicles for rent in the UK. Offering more than 25,000 vehicles of all categories and classes, Flex-E-Rent caters for the diverse needs of commercial customers utilising vehicles in a variety of sectors.

The Truckman RS is one of the most robust cab high hardtops available and is ideal for use in off-highway industries such as construction, agriculture and utilities. Designed and manufactured in the West Midlands by Truckman, the RS is solid-sided and features a practical, wipe-clean interior.

With its non-drilling clamp fitting and toughened, tinted rear glass door, the Truckman RS keeps the truck bed concealed and secure.

Mike Wheeler, Executive Chairman of Truckman, said: “We’re proud to continue our relationship with Enterprise with this latest significant order of our British-Built hardtops. The investments we have made in our manufacturing operations together with additional fitting and stockholding capabilities ensure we can deliver volume contracts like this in a timely manner.

Jamie Atkinson, Group Vehicle Acquisition Manager at Enterprise Flex-E-Rent, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to use a British manufacturer for the continued supply of our hardtops. Truckman has an excellent reputation, which it lives up to with the quality of its products and service.

“The hardtops offered an added dimension to our fleet of pick-up trucks enhancing their storage capabilities and security. This is an important part of the Flex-E-Rent service, which provides tailored, bespoke vehicle solutions to our nationwide customers.”

Truckman, the UK’s leading manufacturer and distributor of pick-up hardtops and accessories, transformed its extensive West Midlands facility into a conference venue to host more than 250 UK motor industry professionals on behalf of Isuzu and Subaru.

The Dudley-based company became the first supplier to ever host the IM Group Dealer Conference at its premises, which provided the ideal setting to discuss industry issues and the group’s current and upcoming vehicle ranges.

Welcoming Isuzu and Subaru dealers from across the United Kingdom and guests from around the world, Truckman utilised its 120,000sq.ft premises to create a conference hall featuring stadium-style seating and audio visual equipment. IM Group has also created a heated outdoor space with catering facilities and seating in its external distribution area.

In addition to attending the conference, which also highlighted the upcoming trends and innovations in pick-up truck accessories, delegates were given a tour of Truckman’s product development and manufacturing facility, which is part of a recent £2.6m investment programme.

Truckman’s head office building has provided much-needed additional warehouse storage and hardtop fitting capacity to meet the increased demand from its multi-channel business stream.

Sales of its hardtops and its range of vehicle accessories have been driven by its strong relationships with Original Equipment (OE) customers, which include Isuzu.

Mike Wheeler, Joint Managing Director of Truckman, said: “We were very proud to host this important industry event for one of the world’s leading vehicle distributors. We have a long and successful relationship with Isuzu UK and were keen to host its dealer conference.

“The investment we have made in the business, in particular in our new facilities, provided a great setting for this conference and interesting discussions about future developments in our industry.”

Darren James, Group Resource Director from Isuzu, said: “Hosting our dealer conference at the premises of one of our established accessory suppliers has been a successful initiative and we would like to thank the team at Truckman for their hospitality. Isuzu has a very engaged dealer network and I am sure they took a lot away from the conference and enjoyed the experience of attending the event at Truckman.”

Truckman has secured the exclusive distribution rights in the UK for Steinbauer Performance for 4x4 Pick-up trucks, a unique engine accessory that increases the power and torque of diesel engines by around 20 percent.

The Steinbauer Performance Power Enhancement is an electronic module that plugs directly into existing engine electrics and increases the power of the engine by 20 percent once the electronics sense it is required, i.e. when overtaking, towing or off-roading.

Unlike cheaper alternative products, the desired performance enhancement is achieved by lengthening the duration of fuel injection, rather than increasing the fuel pressure, which can cause damage to the engine. This technology is unique to Steinbauer performance products, which in addition, increases the power only when necessary, at 65% power output, which limits excessive fuel consumption.

Truckman stock a Steinbauer kit for the majority of pick-up models. The modules all come with a three-year warranty and the facility for an optional extra of an on-off switch that allows the user to activate and deactivate the boost when necessary.

Steinbauer Performance is a OE independent developer, manufacturer and global supplier of electronic components and additional modules for modern diesel and turbocharged petrol engines.

Mike Wheeler, Managing Director of Truckman, said: “Securing the exclusive distribution rights for Steinbauer Performance‘s Power Enhancement is a major coup for Truckman and will deliver great value for our pick-up customers.

“Many of our clients use their vehicles for commercial purposes and transport heavy loads, which can make it difficult to reach the desired speeds – our new product will overcome this issue and many more faced by customers that require extra power.”

As well as installing state-of-the-art technology to make the party go with a swing, the Truckman team took the chance to trial some of the must-have gadgets that will be at the top of many people’s Christmas lists this year.
